Building Rock Retaining Walls
Rock, Stone and Boulders must be built to strict council regulations, Retaining wall builders must also be fully licensed by the QBSA when constructing retaining walls in Queensland.
Landscape and garden retaining walls have less regulations governing their construction methods. Landscape and garden retaining walls are usually built using less costly B-Grade Sandstone and Natural shaped Boulders, such as Queensland Bush Rocks which have that ideal rural look to them. Natural Granite Boulders are great for rock gardens around outdoor entertainment areas.
Retaining Wall Design
The Design and process for building a rock, stone or boulder retaining wall will depend mostly on the actual situation, different methods of construction are used when building retaining walls in steep and awkward situations.
Retaining Wall Rock Choice
The choice of rocks for a retaining will depend on the actual look, budget and life expectancy of the wall, Granite retaining walls will last longer than sandstone retaining walls and bush rock retaining walls will have a more rustic or rural look to them. Local Queensland Bush rocks are cheaper and long lasting. Split Granite Cost more, however Split Granite looks good and last longer.
